Here are some Frequently Asked Questions which we hope may help you:

Q: Can I get my vaccinations and well baby/child care with you?

A: No. All pediatricians at the Barrie Pediatric Associates are Consultant Pediatricians. This means a family doctor; nurse practitioner or midwife needs to refer your child to us. We see children for specific issues. Your primary care doctor will continue to follow your child for routine and preventative care.

Q: How can I prepare for my appointment?

A: If your child is coming for a behavioural, educational or developmental consultation please bring along report cards, comments from teachers/ daycare providers, psychological reports or any other paperwork that you think might be helpful.  We may take a copy of these for our records. Some families find it helpful to write down their questions or concerns prior to their appointment to make sure they don’t forget.

Q: How long will my appointment be?

A: This will depend if it is a first consultation or a follow up, and on the nature of the issue. Consultations may range from 30 minutes to 90 minutes depending on the issue. Follow ups typically are 15-30 minutes. You may ask our administrative staff how long your child’s appointment will be.

Q: What if I can’t make my scheduled appointment?

A: Please notify as soon as possible. We will try our best to reschedule your appointment to a time that suits you. We require 48 hour notice for a changes to appointments. Fees may be applied for last minute cancellations or “No shows”

Q How long is your wait list?

A: Wait times vary depending on your child’s issue. Our office staff may give you an estimate of wait time once a referral has been received.
